FACILITIES OFFICER

The Couva Shopping Complex (CSC), located at the corner of Isaac Junction and Southern Main, Couva is a facility inclusive of a Conference Center and Banquet Hall, with brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Royal Bank of Canada and JTA supermarket located on the compound.  CSC is seeking to fill the position of FACILITIES OFFICER.

As the Facilities Officer, your main responsibilities will be to:

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES / KEY FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life cycle requirements for the Complex including the Conference Center and Banquet Hall.
  • Prepare scope of services and tenders for facilities maintenance e.g. Janitorial, Pest Control, Landscaping, waste disposal, wastewater treatment plant and car park space allocation.
  • Monitor contracts related to maintenance, repairs and upgrades to the facility and ensure all work is completed according to specification.
  • Inspect facilities and equipment for deficiencies and implement measures to ensure optimal functioning.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATION:

  • BSc in Facilities Management or Engineering. 
  • At least five (5) years contractor management experience of which at least three (3) should be at a supervisory level.
  • Project management certification will be considered an asset.
  • An acceptable of academic qualifications and work experience may be considered in lieu of minimum requirements.

SKILLS / COMPETENCIES:

  • Well versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and cost control.
  • Working knowledge of procurement processes and contracts management
  • Familiarity with health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to relate to a diverse engineering, operations, maintenance and administrative workforce.
