In 1943, the Reverend Bindley Taylor started a private school in St Clement’s, Naparima, which was moved to Princes Town in 1955. On April 18, 1956, Bishop’s High School was opened, incorporating the private school and with Bindley Taylor acting as unpaid Principal. In 1958, the school was recognized by the Ministry of Education, and in 1959 Mr. Dipchand Maharaj became Principal, and the school became known as St. Stephen’s College. Until 1960, it was housed in a dilapidated wooden building on the Naparima-Mayaro Road. It then moved into new buildings, shaped like a Greek Amphitheatre. Red and black brick combined with grey and yellow woodwork to create a striking appearance.
St Michael’s School, Diego Martin opened in 1894
