Preserving Heritage: Pipe Organ Builder David Brown’s Visit to Trinidad

Mr. David Brown, a second generation organ builder from Buzard Pipe Organ Builders LLC of Champaign Illinois USA, visited Trinidad from September 27th to the 30th. He served a three year apprenticeship at Australia Pipe Organs Pty. Ltd and is a member of the British Institute Organ Studies and has extensive knowledge of 19th and 20th century English organs. During his stay in Trinidad, he conducted a condition assessment of the 1887 Mathew Hill opus 2049 pipe organ at the Parish of St Paul and visited and inspected pipe organs at All Saints Anglican Church, Hanover Methodist Church, the Pro Cathedral of our Lady of Perpetual Help and the Susamachar Presbyterian Church. He inspected the belfry at St Paul’s and determined that the bells were made in 1888. He is an Episcopalian attending The Chapel of St. John the Divine in Champaign at the University of Illinois Campus. This church is part of the Springfield Diocese.
