At 6 a.m. yesterday, Ash Wednesday, interim rector of the Holy Trinity Cathedral Fr Carl Williams gave about 150 people ashes as they passed through City Gate, South Quay, Port of Spain.
Williams prayed with those seeking God’s divine intervention for employment and good health. He was assisted by lay minister Erica Bailey.
The religious team placed huge black crosses on people’s foreheads to mark the beginning of Lent—the 40-day period of fasting and spiritual discipline. At the Holy Trinity Cathedral, on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain, Williams and Deacon Cheryl Mottley officiated at the Holy Eucharist service for parish and Government schools.Taken from: http://www.trinidadexpress.com/20170301/news/150-receive-ashes-prayers-at-city-gate
