Dexter ‘Peck’ Francis former Strike Squad player and former national football captain, was honoured by the St Christophers Anglican Church of Siparia week of activities in celebrations of its 69th Travellers Rally/Emancipation Service programme last month.
Francis, a defender who was also outstanding for the former Defence Force team, was celebrated during two friendly matches which attracted the likes for another former national standout Larry Joseph, who lined up with Seasoned Sandflies to play against Defence Force Masters team and a Church Team.
Francis, 55, of Siparia played for three teams – Tesoro Palo Seco, Trintopec Palo Seco, and Defence Force after starting playing as a youth for Siparia Angels. He also played for his school teams – Siparia Anglican, and Siparia Junior and Senior Secondary schools. He also enjoyed a coaching stint from 2010 to 2013 with school teams around the Southern community.
The Church also paid tribute to Canon Ceasar, a former football referee and football organiser. Among the activities hosted by the Church were aerobics, netball, football and cycling.
