Washington D.C. October 13th 2020. Wayne A. I. Frederick is a Trinidadian scholar, surgeon, and university administrator. He is currently serving as president of Howard University in Washington D.C. since July 21, 2014.

Dr. Wayne A.I. Frederick says he sees Howard University as part of the solution to what ails the country. He points to Sen. Kamala Harris, a Howard alumna, becoming vice president-elect as an example of the school breaking through gender and racial barriers. 

“I think we’ve been in a difficult and dark moment in this country that has been exacerbated by 2020,” he says. “What we see now is that Howard is shining very brightly because of the school’s principles.”
